"My boyhood wanderings in the woods led me to initially pursue a profession in biology and ecology. A more creative side, however, eventually resurfaced. Although no longer a researcher, I am still a naturalist. I regard my paintings as an artistic extension of this facet of my life."

"These landscapes are imaginary scenes. They are loosely based on perceptions that I make during my travels. Although I often take snapshots and sketch in the field, I tend to put these in a folder and not look at them again. When it comes time to paint, my strategy is generally to just start painting, invent and explore as I go, and see what happens. What unfold are these conceptual scenes."
