"Until recently, my entire professional art career has been spent as a conservator of fine art, and so I bring to the field of creative art the many skills acquired over more than twenty years of experience in restoration. However, while the successful practice of art conservation requires many of the abilities needed in creative art, self-expression and creativity have no place in the restoration of existing work, since the objective of conservation is to preserve the work of another artist."
"As satisfying as it is, conservation has not provided me with the opportunity to express myself and to be creative. In June of 2005 I began painting non-representational work with a qualified teacher. This experience introduced me to the art of Abstract Expressionism, and suddenly I found myself engulfed in a world of color, shape, form and movement that I had never previously experienced."
"This discovery produced an exhilaration impossible to describe in words. It was as though I was born anew; all the colors were heightened, were clearer, richer, finer, and more filled with light than I had ever thought possible. I was captivated. New meaning and dimension have been added to my life."
